Homebrew Sorter Plugin v0.5

Developer L041ing has just cooked up a neat little plugin that sorts homebrew according to the frequency of execution. This simply means that the homebrew that is executed the most number of times will be position on the top of the list and the second most executed brew' below it and so on. This will be an extremely useful plugin for those who really have a good deal of homebrew on their memory sticks, like me for example. No more "pain in the ass" scrolling anymore. YES!!

Anyways, have a good one! :D

Clickr v1.0

Here's a neat brew' developed by ktix007. The aim of the game is simple. Just count the amount of cars that speed past you. Simple eh? You'll have to count them right. If you get the right number at the end of the level, you advance to the next level. Else, you'll have to restart the level back again. Here's what the developer had to say :

In this version, the first one, there are 5 levels but I'll make more levels in the next version. I've made 3 different versions of the game, as always, one in English, another one Catalan and another one in Spanish.

Controls:

R - Count one
L - Substract one
SELECT - Pause the game
TRIANGLE - Go back to the main menu

Have a good time playing this!

Power PRX

Developer alex_e has just released a simple yet cool plugin which he calls Power PRX. This plugin allows users to switch off or put their psp in standby mode without having to swipe the on/off toggle. All you need to do is to press L + Triangle to turn your unit off, and L + Cross to set it to standby mode. This may not seem too useful, but think again, this would definitely be much cooler than using the on switch, right? Give it a shot yo!

PSN License Manager 0.22

Here's a small tweak for the PSN Store that is developed by Light_AleX. Yes, Light, not Dark_AleX. I know, my heart was pumping hard the first time I saw that name as well. Anyways, back to the PSN License Manager. This tweak is capable of doing the following, as stated by the developer himself :

Capabilities :

Backup your PSN license.
Restore your PSN license.
Delete the backup license on the memory stick.
Toggle USB Mass Storage.
Up to 30 PSP support.

Licenses can only be used on ONE PSP so don't think this is a piracy helper.

TESTED ON 5.00M33-6
LEDA Installed.
For PSP-100X and 200X, 1.50 kernel installation is fine too.

Custom flashed themes may interfere with this program as it loads resources from flash. Please use CTF themes or uninstall your Flashed themes.

Please read readme before installing and use at your own risk.
Information of each function is not in the main program anymore so you MUST read the readme before using the program.

This release of this tweak will definitely be a joy factor for PSN users, so if you're one, enjoy!

IrShell Patch - btcnfpatch.prx for CFWenablers 5.03 on PSP 2000 and 3000

CFE Enabler users, rejoice! PSP developer bosshunter has just worked on a patch for IrShell allowing users to now run iso's and psx titles in IrShell. This patch also improves the stability of IrShell, and makes it a much better shell to play with.

Here's what the developer left as a reminder on how to utilize this patch :

Make sure you have:

- IrShell 5.0 installed.
- A fresh install of CFWe (if you have done my other tutorial, you'll have to reinstall CFWe to run this utility).
- Plugins in game.txt are disabled (If not you'll probably get a black screen when running the prx. Just do a hard reset if this happens. Then enable ChickHen, run CFWe and try the patch again after disabling the game.txt plugins. Kinda looks like a pain but.. You only need to run this once!).
- Replace the provided IRSHELL folder in your memory stick.

Instructions: (same as the old IrShell patches)
- Run IrShell
- Open Directory View and go to ms0:/IRSHELL/PATCH/5.03/
- Run btcnfpatch.prx
- Press X to start patching
- Wait a few seconds and you're done (you should see the following screenshot on your PSP if the update is successful).
- You can now re-enable your plugins in game.txt.

Have a good one!

Homebrew Shortcuts Plugin [BETA 1]

PSP developer junkfactory has just cooked up a nifty plugin which he calls "Homebrew Shortcuts Plugin". What's the point of this? Well, you can use this plugin to boot a homebrew, iso or anything else just by using button combo's of your choice. Configuring the button combination isn't hard at all, as everything is explained in detail in the readme. With this, you can boot your favourite homebrews and games with ease without having to go through the hassle of XMB scrolling. Have fun with this one!

PSP Rubik's Cube v2.0

BAAM!! Guess what? EXTER is back with a whole new block of Rubik!

This is basically a normal Rubik's Cube that has been developed in 3D by EXTER, and my, it's really good in every manner. Perfect graphics, awesome gameplay. In a nutshell, this game is nearly flawless.

This is a definite must have for all Rubik players!

Duck Hunt

PSP developer scionsamurai has just released a simple, yet neat game which he calls Duck Hunt. As the title clearly says, the main goal of the game is to shoot as many ducks as your can in the given five rounds. The controls are actually pretty easy to get into, and that just makes this game even more enjoyable than it already is. Now, there is another feature in this game where you take the role of a duck rather than the evil hunter himself. When you're playing as a duck, you obviously have to evade the bullets fired from the hunter's gun. It's that easy!

The developer notes that this game isn't completely done yet as he still has many other plans to improve the game in all dimensions, but this game is still awesome and it's another good way to kill time. Have a good one!

RPS PSP ( Rock Paper Scissors )

Developer Dreiundachzig has just released his first ever homebrew game for the psp unit, and my, it isn't bad at all. This is just a classic "rock paper scissors" game, that may seem really simple and boring at first, but it's really a good way to kill time, and to actually challenge friends at school.

The controls are pretty simple.

Square : Rock
Cross : Paper
Triangle : Scissors

The developer also mentioned that he had troubles adding code for audio and said that he would give that a shot at the next release.

15 Puzzle Game

Aha! There's an awesome new homebrew game out there, and this time, it's a brain twisting homebrew game known as "15 Puzzle". The goal of this puzzle developed by OlegO is simple, really. No, seriously, it is simple. This game has a frame, with a few numbers, all arranged randomly with just one empty block. The objective of this puzzle is to rearrange the entire puzzle by making use of the empty slot. Doesn't seem so simple after all now does it? Heh. Oh yes, I must warn you, it's an extremely addictive game, so beware.

XMB RCO PATCHER

PSP Developer "thecraziness1" has just released an awesome tool for the psp which is known as the "XMB RCO PATCHER". Although this is just a beta version of this tool, it is reasonably good and functions perfectly. PSP users may be wondering what this tool is actually for seeing that they've got plenty of other choices to choose from, but hey, this is for ChickHEN users who can now customize their PSP's! As the developer says, this program will let you to change background waves, icons, battery bar, loading signals, clicksounds and the sony bootlogos to some other cool theme and pattern. The best part of it? Well, of course. It's an extremely safe tool to use as it does not real files directly from the flash 0 but from the memory stick instead. Have a good one!

Hellcat's Flasher 1.60 Guide

Hellcat has released an awesome new flasher that is capable of performing many cool functions on our psps. Now, this flasher tool will be extremely useful for those wanting to :

1)  Reflash their semi-bricked psp units
2) Downgrade from a higher custom firmware to a lower one.
3) Revert to an official firmware from a custom firmware
4) Upgrade directly to a new custom firmware from an older   custom firmware without having to install the 3.52m33-4 firmware beforehand.

Here's a short and simple guide on how to get Hellcat's Flasher v1.60 on your psp unit.

1) Download Hellcat's Flasher 1.60 : Hellcat's Flasher 1.60

*Download the firmware of your choice only. For instance, if you want to install 5.00m33, then   just download 500.pbp. Ignore the other firmwares*

2) Download 3.71 official firmware : 3.71 eboot

3) Download 3.80 official firmware : 3.80 eboot

4) Download 3.90 official firmware : 3.90 eboot

5) Download 4.01 official firmware : 4.01 eboot

6) Download 5.00 official firmware : 5.00 eboot

7) Once you've downloaded the flasher, extract the files and folders off the .rar file.

8) You should see a few folders. We want to concentrate on the one that is named RECOVERY as that is the folder that we will be using.

Note : To those whose psps are in a semi-bricked state, just boot into recovery mode, and enable USB mode there.

9) Copy the RECOVERY folder, and paste it in "ms0:/PSP/GAME"

10) Now, copy the firmware eboot that you downloaded, and paste it in the RECOVERY folder. After doing so, your directory should be something like this :

ms0:/PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/eboot.pbp and XXX.pbp (XXX represents the firmware name)

11) That's pretty much it. Now, just run it on your psp, and after that, everything is pretty much straight forward.

How to install custom firmware patches?

I've received a few mails and private messages from some of my friends regarding the installation of custom firmware patches. These patches are actually created by the developer of the custom firmware to patch errors in the original code or maybe even to add new features to the existing custom firmware.

Now, for this short guide, i'll be using the -2 patch for 40.1M33.

1) Download this patch : 4.01m33-2 Patch

2) Now, extract the files from the .rar file using your favorite rar extracting software.

3) You should now see a folder named "UPDATE-2".

4) Copy that folder, and paste it in the ms0:/PSP/GAME directory.

5) That's it. Now scroll to game, and run the update!

This applies for nearly every custom firmware update out there. Also, these sort of patches would take barely a few seconds to complete.

Cheers!

How to get homebrew on your psp

Homebrews are basically games, applications, plugins, flashers etc that are developed by fellow psp users who have got a decent programming knowledge. In fact, you can develop homebrew and enjoy them on your psp as well! But um, as usual, there's always a twist behind everything. You need to be able to code in either C, C++ or Lua which are the three most famous language used in psp programming.

About homebrew :

Not every psp unit is capable of running homebrew. Only certain official firmwares can do so. By saying so, I mean firmware 1.00 and 1.50 which are both early psp firmwares that can run unsigned code a.k.a homebrew. However, Sony decided to put an end to the unsigned code reign, and they came up with newer firmwares that removed the ability to run unsigned code on the system. However, it all came to an end when hackers (Dark_AleX and friends) managed to develop custom firmwares. With custom firmware, homebrew can be loaded with ease.

Homebrew capable firmwares :

1) Firmware 1.00
2) Firmware 1.50
3) Firmware 2.71 (With HEN)
4) Firmware 2.80 (With HEN)
5) Firmware 5.03 (With ChickHEN)
6) All custom firmwares

Types of homebrew :

Homebrews come in a few different builds.

1) Firmware 1.00 builds (Game)
2) kXploit builds (Game & Game%)
3) 3.xx builds (Game)

All these three builds can be run on phat psp units with custom firmware on it, but unfortunately, slim units cannot run kXploit builds due to the absence of 1.50 kernel. This encouraged homebrew developers to build their homebrew using the 3.xx build in order to support slim units as well.

How to install homebrew :

Homebrew installation is extremely easy.

1.00 builds go into the ms0:/PSP/GAME directory.
kXploit builds go into ms0:/PSP/GAME150
3.xx builds go into ms0:/PSP/GAME3xx

A few homebrew games :

There are many good homebrew out there. All you need to do is to search for the keyword which is "homebrew" of course, and BAMM! You get the results you want.

Now, i've developed several games, and here's on of them : Urinal Test

That's just an example. To get that game to run on your unit, just place the Urinal Test folder (That has the eboot.pbp file in it) in ms0:/PSP/GAME and you're done!

A few sites you should take a look at :

4.01M33 Upgrade Guide

6)Now,time for the 4.01 eboot

7)Copy the 401.PBP and paste it in the UPDATE folder as well.

Hey

Hey guys, i've never really dug deep into blogging, and this basically is my first shot at it. The main purpose of this blog is to help fellow PSP (PlayStation Portable) users with hacks and exploits using guides and tutorials which I will soon post in here. So, hello everybody, and welcome to PlayStation Sensation!
